Free Hummer company logo. The Hummer came from a military vehicle named the M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Soldiers started to call the HMMWV cars Humvee's. AM General started to produce similar vehicles for the civilian market and branded them Hummers.
